Hello! Today we delve into the Wedding Guest Style Guide where I share my current favorite outfits and tips on what to wear to a wedding and feel confident but free to dance, eat, and socialize the night away.
Polished Jumper
I love a one-piece number for a wedding. There is a welcomed modesty with a jumpsuit. I prefer one with straps so I can move with ease. This jumper has a slimming v-neck and a defined waist. The straight, wide-leg shape allows for movement and gives a lengthening effect to the legs. It looks deceptively like a dress.
Ethereal Dress
A dress with a flowy shape matches the nostalgic sentiment of such a special occasion. This peach one is perfect for an outdoor and/or beach wedding. It is lightweight while still maintaining its shape with a cinched waist. Interesting details such as the pleats and a sheer cutout (located modestly mid-chest) keep it from being drab.
Mint Cocktail
Don’t be deceived by its shapeless form on the hanger; this is a great example of chic and stylish. The layers of sheer fabric add to the romantic feel of this dress. However, it is fully lined and provides necessary coverage. The beauty of this one is the ruching at the side and the generous draping across the body; this conceals the mid-section if that’s an area of concern and also allows you to eat comfortably. Also, wear a regular bra…enough said.
Neon Neon
Summer is the season to pull out your brights. I love these bold orange and chartreuse hued frocks. Since the color already makes such a statement, I prefer a dress in a simple cut and delicate jewelry.
Two-Piece
I have yet to find my perfect two-piece. How chic would high-waisted palazzo pants and a cropped top (both in weighty fabrics) be?
Dancing Shoes
When it comes to shoes, the essentials that will match every outfit are these: nude strappy heels, black strappy heels, and gold and/or silver strappy heels. No matter what outfit you opt for, they will match it. Heel height and style will vary depending on preference, but I prefer the black/nude heels to be more minimal as to seamlessly complement bold or polished outfits. Choose a gold/silver pair of shoes with a little more detailed glamour to boost a simple dress.
Clutch
My clutch choices are similar to my shoe choices in terms of color. Choose black, nude, or cream for easy matching. A bold color or embellishments can dress up a simple dress. To add texture, choose a feathered or beaded clutch in toned down hue such as black or champagne. I love my heirloom one(above)…a vintage beaded beauty. Make sure the size of the bag is ample enough to carry your essentials.
I hope this was helpful! See you all next week for the start of Affordable August!
