Sunglasses are one of my top favorite accessories (among earrings and watches). For this SoCal girl, I wear them year round. Plus, they play an important role in sun protection. I’m not a designer purse girl, but I don’t mind investing in a good pair of sunglasses that are well-made, provides broad spectrum protection (polarized lenses are a plus), and are classics. Finding the perfect pair of sunglasses is like finding the perfect pair of jeans. You try multiple ones and most don’t work out. It’s hard to find, but once you do, you wear it all the time. My collection has been thoughtfully curated over many years, and I am sharing it with you today. I’ve divided these frames into three categories: 1) Trendy 2) Statement 3) Classics.
TrendyRound shaped glasses seem to have cycled back in vogue recently. I chose a simplistic interpretation of the 60s/70s style with my Ray-Bans Round Sunglasses. I like the contrast of the highly reflective and mirrored lenses with the matte silver frame. Although this pair is trendy, its minimal design allows it to be versatile. The second pair by Michael Kors has round lenses, but has a classic look with the brow bar for its aviator style. It has a mix of warm and cool tones with silver lenses and rose gold frame.
These frames definitely make a loud statement. Although, they are not particularly versatile, I love these Quay “My Girl” Cat Eye Sunglasses (similar). They are oversized, a bit outlandish, and has a touch of vintage glamour. The blue-purple mirrored glasses infuses personality into any jeans and tee combo. I found them at a flea market in Brooklyn; the vendors purchased overstocked frames from optometry offices and add tinted lenses instead. I had to nab this one up when I spotted it. Bold move for a neutral-toned gal like myself.
These are my tried and true glasses. They match everything and look great with outfits worn 5 days ago to 5 years ago. I must have an oversized cat eye in classic black; these are from Le Specs, which have both trendy and timeless styles at affordable prices. I love the mens-inspired Clubmaster and Aviator sunglasses. These styles just effortlessly complement every outfit, casual or formal. My top two picks in my collection are the Ray-Ban Clubmaster and Aviators. In fact, Ray-Ban is my favorite sunglasses brand.
