barefoot dreams: casual & comfortable ootd

I have been hearing about Barefoot Dreams for a while now. The bloggers that I follow mention how soft and change-your-life comfortable the material of their cardigans, lounge wear, and throws are. So, when the Barefoot Dreams line were discounted during last year’s Nordstrom Semi-Annual Sale, this homebody-at-heart decided to pick up this hooded cardigan to try out.

This cardigan is part of Barefoot Dreams’ Cozychic Lite line, which is a medium-weight, plush and soft material. It does a good job at providing warmth in cool (not cold) weather. Although just slightly thicker in weight, the cardigan did not look bulky and draped on the body well. I agree with the other Barefoot Dreams fans; the material is soft and very comfortable. I have definitely worn this lounging around the house and out for errands.

Wearing items that are considered “lounge wear” outside of the house can be a little tricky. There’s a fine line between comfortable casual and pajamas out in public. Admittedly, the husband keeps referring this cardigan as my “robe.” As in, “Don’t forget your robe. It’s cold out.” Putting aside his obvious sartorial misnomer, I’ve put together an outfit to incorporate this cardigan. You can pair a similar casual look with your lounge or athleisure outerwear. To combat the sleepy time vibes, I steered clear from knitted, drapey bottoms and opted for a pair of mid-wash jeans. I paired it with an animal print turtleneck to add a bit of color and whimsy. These faux leather sneakers further streamline the look and my trusty Ray-Ban aviators provide coverage on a no makeup day.

Other ways I have been pairing this jacket include distressed denim and a worn band tee, a fitted casual dress with boots, a work-out top and leggings for post-workout layering, or with the comfiest sweatpants at home. I love pieces that are easy to wear and versatile at the same time. Although the holidays are over, this would make a great gift for a loved one.

In doing my research about the brand, I found out how the Barefoot Dreams line started to begin with. They started out as a children’s line and have now expanded to women, men, and home goods. They also support colon cancer research with a portion of their proceeds. The philosophy of the brand is incredibly uplifting and positive, which was more than I expected when I initially made my purchase. If you’re interested, you can find out more information here. Barefoot Dreams products can be found via their website, Nordstrom, Amazon, QVC, and other boutiques.
